“Scorned” was shot over 22 days in Owensboro, Whitesville and Henderson, Kentucky as well as Evansville, Newburgh and Boonville Indiana. Mark and Matt Pivot teamed up with nearly a complete local ensemble of talent and crew. Most of the actors had stage work prior to filming and Kelly Fritz was an awarding winner for her performance in a film titled “Sacred Heart”.
“Scorned” almost wasn’t shot in the midwest after poor casting turnout had Mark convinced that the movie needed to be shot in Florida. Matt was able to sway Mark to stay in the midwest and they continued preparing for production. Production was pushed back a few more weeks and then the final rolls were cast. The Hitchhiker, played by Louie Lawless was the final part cast just hours before production began.
The cast and crew began this production which encountered many challenges. Weather had the crew and cast working from 95 degree temperature to the low 20’s. They worked through stormy tornadoes and even found themselves stranded in Owensboro, Kentucky during a snow and ice storm.
“It was one of the greatest sets I’ve ever worked on,” Mark comments. “The people that worked on this set always kept their focus. Those that waivered from the stresses of film production always had others picking them up. I had never been on a set that had as high a level of commitment as I had seen with this production.”
